EA4 – Band 11 - $38.75 per hour – ($42.62 per hour Includes skilled trades premium, based on 2025 rates)
EA4 – Band 10 - $37.63 per hour (Apprenticeship) - ($41.39 per hour - Includes skilled trades premium, based on 2025 rates)
Hours of Work per Week: 40 hours

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Fleet Supervisors, this position will be responsible for:- Carrying out all functions of a fully Certified Automotive Service Technician and/or Apprentice.
- Maintaining and completing manual and computerized records of repairs as required by a computerized fleet management system.
- Carrying out related work as directed including preventive maintenance, diagnostic investigations, service, mandatory and statutory maintenance and repair.
- Maintaining complies with current Provincial safety legislation.
- Maintain amiable relations with customers, the public and fellow staff.
- Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program.
- Will perform other related duties as required.
Apprentice duties:
- The Apprentice will perform duties for the applicable license they possess (either Automotive Service Technician – 310S or Truck and Coach Technician – 310T), while apprenticing on the license for which they are not fully certified.
Qualifications:
- Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency; plus be in the possession of a current Certificate of Qualification in Truck and Coach Technician and a Certificate of Qualification in Automotive Service Technician from the Ministry of Education or appropriate governing body;
- Must have an additional two (2) years experience over the above-noted Certificate of Qualifications.
- OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency, plus a current Certificate of Qualification in Truck and Coach Technician from the Ministry of Education; and must have an additional two (2) years experience over the above-noted Certificate of Qualifications and must be willing as a condition of employment to complete a Certificate of Qualification in Automotive Service Technician from the Ministry of Education as per the terms stated in Article 28 of the C.U.P.E Local 82 collective agreement.
- OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency, plus a current Certificate of Qualification in Automotive Service Technician from the Ministry of Education; and must have an additional two (2) years experience over the above-noted Certificate of Qualifications and must be willing as a condition of employment to complete a Certificate of Qualification in Truck and Coach Technician from the Ministry of Education as per the terms stated in Article 28 of the C.U.P.E Local 82 collective agreement.
- Must hold and maintain, as a condition of employment, a current, valid and lawful Class ‘D’ Driver’s Licence with a ‘Z’ endorsement OR must attain a current, valid and lawful Class ‘D’ Driver’s License with a ‘Z’ endorsement in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purpose of operating a City of Windsor vehicle within the probationary/confirmation period and must provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment;
- Must attend night or weekend courses at community colleges or otherwise;
- Must be familiar with current Provincial safety legislation and Corporate policies and procedures;
- Must be able to work all three (3) shifts (days, afternoons and midnights), as scheduled;
- Must be a Multi-Certificate holder of ICE-P/ICE-NG OR must attain an ICE-P/ICE-NG certificate within the probationary/confirmation period as recognized by the Technical Standards & Safety Authority;
- Must have some ability in arc welding (MIG or stick) capable of using an oxy-acetylene torch for brazing, minor welding and cutting;
- Must be capable of troubleshooting and road testing own repairs to meet Ministry of Transportation safety and roadworthiness;
- Must be capable of filing out comprehensive forms and report as required by trade;
- Must complete a post-offer agility test in an effort to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely and to aid in minimizing injuries on the job;
- Preference will be given to applicants possessing both Certifications of Qualifications;
- The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a heavy level of work.
NOTE:
- For the term of the current Collective Agreement (i.e. January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2028) a 10% premium will be added to the base hourly shown while working in this skilled trade.
