Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities, this position will be responsible for:
  • Servicing and maintaining all electrical equipment associated with the operation of Parks and Facilities Operations department;
  • Planning installations from blueprints, sketches and specifications;
  • Installing all electrical and electronic devices;
  • Submitting written reports, and completes comprehensive forms as required;
  • Cleaning and maintaining tools and work areas and follows all safety policies and procedures;
  • Communicating and cooperating with other employees;
  • Working in all types of weather and all conditions, with minimum supervision;
  • Performing Occupational Health and Safety duties as outlined in the Corporate Health and Safety Program;
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency;
  • Must have a current Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) as an Electrician (309A), including an apprenticeship, under the Tradesperson’s Qualifications Act, as offered through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
  • Must have over five (5) years of experience (in addition to the C of Q) associated with the duties involved in the Certified Electrician.
  • Must be able to read and understand design drawings, manufacturer’s literature, and installation diagrams for piping and connected appliances.
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G driver’s license in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Must be familiar with and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to submit written reports, complete comprehensive forms as required by the trade, and have legible handwriting.
  • Must be able to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
  • Must have demonstrated good public relations skills.

  • The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a light to heavy level of work;
  • Will be required to complete a post-offer strength test in an effort to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely and to aid in minimizing injuries on the job.
