DUTIES:
Reporting to the Manager of Public Services this position will be responsible:
- To be a part of the team providing support services for the Windsor Public Library.
- Organizes the collection and delivery of all materials for the Windsor Public Library system and to external agencies.
- Promotes the Windsor Public Library Mission Statement; provides excellent customer service.
- Operate a delivery vehicle within city limits; collects, sorts, receives and distributes materials, including but not limited to books and supplies, throughout the Windsor Public Library system and external agencies e.g. long-term care facilities; Collects, sorts, receives and distributes mail throughout the Windsor Public Library system and external agencies e.g. city departments, customs broker and Canada Post.
- Maintains delivery truck and perform daily delivery truck inspections in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation guidelines and maintain daily log.
- Responsible for building security while executing daily duties.
- Collects and delivers financial instruments, including cash bags, throughout the Windsor Public Library system.
- Maintains postage meter including software upgrades and downloading of funds; occasionally participates in moving library furniture and equipment between branches.
- Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program.
- Will perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency;
- Must have over six (6) months of related work experience;
- Must be available to work on weekends.
- Must demonstrate excellent public service and customer relations skills;
- Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G Driver’s Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment;
- Must have effective time management and organizational skills;
- Respond willingly to flexibility in assignment and changing tasks in a team environment;
- Public Library experience is considered a definite asset.
